Vancouver late last night had its deal approved to add one of the best players to play left wing in Rick Nash. With the loss of such talents over the past year including Kopitar and Kessel. Vancouver needed to add a sparkplug to their lineup and found one in Nash.

Vancouver is in the rebuilding process after taking over a talent loaded team a couple of years ago with no depth in the prospect pool.

" We feel that now our team has some talented prospects in our system and it just made sense to go after Nash to solidify the first line and only giving up minimal prospects." said Stanger in the Canuck news conference. " Now we have several guys that once they make the jump to the NHL will become elite players including Adam Larsson and Vladimir Tarasenko." " For now we need to stay competative and get out of the cellar in VHA."

In the deal, Vancouver received Nash from a cash strapped Philadelphia that needed to clear cap. Vancouver also received 2 picks in the 2013 draft.

In return, Philadelphia received Blake Comeau, Stefan Elliott, Victor Rask and Jordan Schroeder.

"We knew to land Nash that some prospects had to be sacrificed but we dont feel that our pool will be greatly affected. The LW position has always been a weakness for the Canucks and now we have one of the best." Stanger said.
